Well, What Is The Mass?

This pamphlet should be a useful guide for modern readers to understand some of the grandeur and beauty of a Catholic Mass and the magnificent Theology behind it. It must be born in mind that, at the time it was written, Mass was celebrated under the rubrics set forth by Pope Saint Pius V. Thus, a major purpose of the original pamphlet was to enlighten Catholics (as distinct from the two non-Catholic visitors, Helen and Ford, for whose compatriots the pamphlet is also intended,) as to exactly what WAS being enacted at the Sacrifice of the Mass. A close reading of this little booklet will quickly reveal how much advantage there would be for the devout Catholic to have Mass in the vernacular and how much easier it is to follow when celebrated correctly under the guidelines issued by Pope Paul VI. So the following should be of more than just historical interest.
